"They say I'm private, but that's just because I don't talk about everybody I date," he says. "And they think that means I'm intensely private but that means you're sane." "I'm trying to find the difference between free will making things happen and letting things happen," says the thinking-woman's sex symbol. Free will and destiny, do they run concurrently, or do you have to choose more one over the other? In 1983 John Cusack made his feature film debut at 17, acting alongside Rob Lowe and Andrew Mc Carthy in the romantic comedy, CLASS.

He played in various teen flicks until his first adult role in the GRIFTERS, where he played a weasely con man to acclaim, along with powerhouse actors Angelica Huston, who played his mother, and Annette Benning, who played his girlfriend.

His extra-Tinseltown activities also include politics, and the staunch Democrat has hinted at a future in Washington.

In the comedy America's Sweethearts, John portrayed one half of a self-promoting superstar couple a role he'll never play off screen, although he does count Tinseltown "names" Minnie Driver, Alison Eastwood and Neve Campbell among his ex flames.

Originally a member of the notorious Brat Pack from the early 1980s, starring in the likes of "Better Off Dead" (1985) and "One Crazy Summer" (1986), Cusack managed to accomplish the rare feat of flourishing as a dramatic actor, beyond the confines of teen comedies.

Even during his height as a teen comedy star, Cusack had already been branching out, appearing in John Sayles' "Eight Men Out" (1988) and forming his own Chicago-based theater company.

While he did pepper in the occasional blockbuster, "Con Air" (1997) chief among them, Cusack retained his flare for the unconventional, solidifying his reputation as an actor of high quality and integrity.

"He's amazing," praises Peter Chelsom, the director of John Cusack's 2001 romantic comedy Serendipity.

John Cusack was born on June 28, 1966, in Evanston, Illinois, to Nancy, a one-time maths teacher, and Dick, a documentary filmmaker and thespian.
